jen + josh :: casper wedding

Like so many couples I photograph, Jennifer & Josh from Casper Wyoming met in high school – but didn’t date then. A chance encounter when Josh when both were home from college ignited the spark that burned to their wedding day in the hometown.

The October light was just perfect for an outdoor park ceremony. Josh had very cool ceremony set list picked out with Death Cab For Cutie, Arcade Fire, Talking Heads. I felt like my iPod had been hijacked, lol.

The couple patiently await their announcement into the reception at the Casper Elks Club. An ultra-wide lens takes it all in.

Shooting at hail mary speeds here – 1/2 second without a tripod is hit or miss, but the opportunity to show the mirror ball streaks to too strong to pass up.

Jennifer gets props for putting together all the decorations and flowers for her own wedding – even grew the plants that were used as table center pieces!

morgan + bobby :: cheyenne wedding

Morgan + Bobby brought their two families together at the Coal Creek Cattle Company about 35 miles North West of Cheyenne. The facility does almost no publicity and might be Wyoming’s best kept secret.

The whole day had many storybook moments, under the cottonwoods with perfect temperatures and a gentle breeze.

sara + jeff :: wyoming wedding

Somewhere between moving from Mississippi to Minnesota, Sara & Jeff managed to squeeze in a wedding/family reunion along the old family land near Esterbrook, Wyoming (take a left at Glendo). Sara had by far the prettiest wedding dress to ever grace the Esterbrook Community Church.

With absolutely no fanfare, the ceremony began. Luckily on my left shoulder was a camera fitted with a ultra-wide zoom to capture the whole scene in the super-tiny historical church.© 2008 Tom Koetting / tomKphoto.com

And on my right shoulder was a second camera with a long telephoto lens to get the ceremony ring exchange. My sitting position did not change from the previous photo.

cheryl + jeff :: wyoming wedding

Douglas, Wyoming – A quick ceremony in the local park, then a long reception at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds was what Cheryl & Jeff had in mind for their June wedding.

Wedding in Douglas WyomingWedding in Douglas WyomingFor the record – this image is straight out of the camera, no photoshop trickery. I’ve never seen an earring do this, let alone a camera record it. 70-200 2.8L on Canon 20D … would a different (shorter) lens or a different camera rendered the sparkle differently?

Wedding in Douglas WyomingWhat follows is a fun sequence : Jeff is unaware that the garter he’s going for is actually an pair of underwear about 5 sizes bigger than Cheryl wears! Tip – the best man is in on the gag.
